Hi Bill, Pier books closed up shop as of the new year (2009), I believe they had a buyer for the company, but I'm not sure if they are up and running yet (I believe I may have a link here somewhere).

I will contact you privately, with the lat known good email address that I have for the Rev. (it was good as of about a month ago)

Okay - here is the latest information I have been able to locate:
Rev. Romero's email bounces back and so does any email to pier books. Do you have any idea what happened there? I am also thinking that if it hasn't been liquidated, I can help market and sell remaining inventory at Pier Books, since I live closeby in Kingston NY.

Don't know how often you check here since the last archive appears to be this past Oct. Pier Books, as you may be aware, is out of business. Do you have any info as to alternative sources for what appears to have been available only through them? I want to take time and go through your content here thoroughly. Right now doing a build of AL Swift just to get my head in the game after not building for several years, but gearing up for a scratch build of Rattlesnake with Hahn's plans and any other resources I can come up with. This site is a wonderful introduction to what awaits me - thank you so much.

My spam filter accidentally caught this comment :-)

I need to update the site, I did manage to get the ebony to bend, but it is stiff stuff. It bends and twists grudgingly at best.

Build looks great. I have to agree that a scraper was the only thing I found any use in fairing up the inside of the hull framing. I did wonder if if it would be possible to invent a scraper tool fashioned out of hooked turning gauge perhaps next time !
Assuming the ebony is for the wales (what else) I found that I was in trouble when I got to the bow and stern when the planking has not only to bend but also to twist to conform to the lines. My ebony just did not want to do this, no matter how much I steamed or treated it. In the end I had to laminate a 20 thou. veneer onto a beech strip which I had steamed and formed to shape . I did not cut the veneer but bought it as such from a Luthiers suppliers
regards. Eric.
